Removing the Engine

Hey All,

I've been planning on bobbing my Rebel once Spring comes back (a few months to go in the southern hemisphere) and I was going to use the BCB kit, as I'm a novice with bikes and don't want to screw things up by going too DIY.

My frame is alright, but as I'm planning on painting my tank and fender matt black, I'd like to repaint the frame as well, as it's a bit stained and marked. I've already painted my engine whilst it's been in place (no easy task!) but wanted to know how easy it would be to remove the engine while most other things are off, so I can clean and paint the frame.

Also, any information on things I might need to think about when I do this, like if I'll have to fidget with the battery or electronics, would be appreciated. As I've not done this before, It's hard to imagine what issues might arise.

Thanks for any help, will post pictures when it happens to help out other novices!

It fairly simple to remove rebel motor , just disconnect all wiring at plugs, remove chain ,n exhaust, tank off, engine mounts n lift motor out

Taking it down to the bare frame makes engine removal easier...just drop it out last. Unbolt the four motor mounts and tip the frame over and it will spill right out.

Be warned that you may need a second pair of hands when installing it, it's rare to get all four motor mounts lined up and you'll need some gorilla strength to allow the space to run the last bolt through.
