Jacks Rebel already has a supplier for new 1st and second gen CDIs I believe. What am I missing here?

 

that is good news. if i had either i would happily contribute.

 

the advantage would be being able to use new Honda manufactured CDI's on a first gen Rebel and not a Chinese aftermarket.

 

The company that makes them I believe is in the USA. Jack would have all the details.
I could see the adapter being usefull for allowing you to run a known good 2nd gen CDI tho.

 

And also for us members of TLB (Team Low Budget) Finding a used second gen CDI in a wrecking yard is a whole lot easier then a fist gen. So that and the cost of the plug adapter is cheaper then a Chinese aftermarket.

 

Still hoping someone has some junk parts we can use???

I might be able to supply both. Won't know for sure until I swap CDIs to see if that's my problem. Lots of irons in the fire. May take a few days.

OK got the first gen wiring harness plug ( thanks Tom) Now we just need a dead second gen CDI.

Now we know why there are no 1st Gen. CDI's available. In a diabolical master plan, WJ is hoarding them all down under to drive the worldwide market price :lol2:

 

I've got a spare CDI, but it's a good one I would want returned. Will make it available if I can be guaranteed it will be coming home.

I'm pretty sure I have my old one out in the shed somewhere. I'll search it out tomorrow & let you know. 99.9999% sure I still have it.

He is going to have a company make an adapter so classic Rebels can use a second gen CDI which I think is a good idea because I'm pretty sure the only classic CDI's available are used.

 

Thanks, I missed that part.:angel: I'm sure it can be done; I recall that Jack had CDIs made for the 450 some time ago. An adapter should be less expensive, or at least I would hope so.

 

When and if you do have the adapters made sign me up for one.

 

Found it! I will get it in the mail sometime today. & it is very dead. So, no need to try to get it back to me. Hopefully this will keep some of the classic rebels running & hopefully people will actually take advantage of it.
