This past weekend I got a flat tire while riding home, called roadside for a tow and no problem...

so I put a plug where a nail had been and I thougth that was the end of that but the tire kept dropping and it was driving me nuts! Today I grabbed a bucket of soap and water and poured it over the whole tire and immediately I saw bubbles coming out from just about EVERY spoke stem!

:confused:whats the deal? why did this happen?? will they be able to repair this at the shop or will I need a whole new wheel? geeez... i've been walking since sunday! gotta get this fixed. '86 rebel 250

There is a tube in the tire and you can't just plug it like a normal car tire. You can either take the wheel off and patch the tube, or just spend not a whole lot and get a new tube... $5 - $10 bucks, and you'd be alot safer. If you.ve never done it before, you should have a local shop or the dealer do it for you and have them explain how they did it. The last thing you want is a pinched or a wrinkled tube, then you would be back in the same boat.

There is also a BIG rubber band around the rim inside to protect the tube from being poked by the end of the spokes. So basically what you did was plugged the hole in the tire, and not the tube. I hope this helped you out. Good Luck.
