Who told you you needed new bushings? Unless the bike is kept outside for extended periods, those bushings last a very long time.

Are you referring to part number 10 in this diagram? https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/hon/5053e037f870021c54be0323/handlebar

A lot of folks think their handlebars are too loose, and overtighten the nut below the bushings (#19 in diagram). They aren't supposed to be too tight, because this allows more vibration to be transmitted to the handlebars and hands. They should be just tight enough they can't be easily moved up or down in their holders. A rough estimate of how much torque to use (my manual doesn't show a value) I think would be about what is used on an oil plug.

Why do you think they need to be replaced? Is the paint sun faded? Can you tell if they are cracked or broken? They aren't something that normally wears out unless they've been abused.

I don't know if they are cracked or broken. I had someone borrow my bike and that's what I was told the right side is ok just the left side was loose. I will look at it this weekend when I have the bike back.

20-25 Ft lb is what is my book says..
I found that too tight and loosened it a bit.. Numb hands were result of tight handlebar.
my bars move fore-aft with a "good" push-pull about 1" measured at grips..

The right side may just be too tight. As Soaked Karma indicates, the bars should be somewaht loose. Tighten both nuts to the minimum torque value his manual recommends (20 ft.lbs) and see how loose they are. Adjust as needed.

Whoever told you the left side is loose may not know how loose they both should be.
