I also had a terrible time installing my Perelli rear tire. Contrarily the Kenda was smooth sailing, & IMO it's a better tire.
Tire change
Put new tires on my Rebel today. IRC tire went on the front easily and needed no balancing.
Dunlap 404 went on the rear. What a pain in the backside. Definitely the most difficult tire I have ever mounted. But it is the first time mounting a rear on the Rebel, so maybe it's just the tire size. It needed a small amount of balance weight. Next time I will definitely try another brand. Has anyone had the same experience?.

That would definitely make a difference! The Pirelli that I put on mine was also a tubeless.
