Put new tires on my Rebel today. IRC tire went on the front easily and needed no balancing.
Dunlap 404 went on the rear. What a pain in the backside. Definitely the most difficult tire I have ever mounted. But it is the first time mounting a rear on the Rebel, so maybe it's just the tire size. It needed a small amount of balance weight. Next time I will definitely try another brand. Has anyone had the same experience?.

I also had a terrible time installing my Perelli rear tire. Contrarily the Kenda was smooth sailing, & IMO it's a better tire.

I was thinking Kenda or Shinko next time.

I mounted Dunlop D404s front and rear last summer and had a rough time with it, but got it done. I wondered if it was unusually difficult, or if I was just a wuss. Glad to read I'm not the only one that had trouble with it. But I do like the tires a lot better than stock. Much more confidence-inspiring in the corners.

I wonder if the Dunlap 404 being a "tubless" tire makes it more difficult on the rear rim. The IRC I used on the front is a "tube" tire and went on easily. I looked but could not find a "tube" tire for the rear.

That would definitely make a difference! The Pirelli that I put on mine was also a tubeless.

Fitting tires isn't a problem if it is up to me, no matter what brand. Getting oldies off the rims is sometimes a bigger challenge.

Even while I have a proper tire machine.....

I put a 404 on the front of my 2005 250, and love the way it rides, but it was a real ***** to install. It was so tight that it wouldn't come out to the rim, even with 70 pounds of pressure. Jim Wilson has used this tire for a while, and says that's normal. At least, I don't think it's going to come off going round a bend. I was leery of using the tubeless tire with an inner tube, but after 1,000 miles, my fears have subsided. Picture here shows before and after fitting 404.
