I've got a 1985 250 Rebel with about 16,000 miles that appears to have too much rotational play in the countershaft, probably close to a 1/5 to 1/4 turn left and right. I found this while changing the worn chain out. How much of this play is normal?

It's been a while since I replaced the chain and sprockets, but don't recall that much free play with the transmission in gear.
