So... the CDI on my '01 Rebel 250 has finally had it... It's randomly not providing a good spark even when it's not raining. So I want to replace it...

I've heard of racing CDIs and have been told by some people to get one. I look into it and see that the primary difference is it doesn't limit revs... which can result in the bike being able to rev so high it'll damage the valves and also provide less power while doing so. That is not what I want... I don't want to tear the engine apart.

So... can anyone recommend a good CDI? And maybe a link to it on Amazon or ebay, and why you recommend that one?

Also, I'm considering adding a tach too, and as I understand it, there's no tach port on the Rebel's engine, so it'd have to plug into the CDI, right?

Well, yeah, but first I need to find a good CDI... There's a number of options but I've heard horror stories about people buying a CDI and the bike doesn't run well... So I'm asking for specific suggestions.
