Anyone know of a good video or write up for rebuild disassembly/assembly of the carbs on a rebel 450?
I'm familiar with shop manuals but to my knowledge they mainly just show an exploded view. Not detailed enough for me.

Not my first carb rebuild, only first on a 450.

There is most likely something on YouTube. Maybe not specifically a set off a 450 but for sure a set of Keihin carbs off something similar. If I could recommend anything it would be a bucket of carburetor cleaner from the parts store and a sonic cleaner. The Harbor Freight sonic cleaner is a good piece of equipment. I've been using mine for years now. It will break up stuff in small passages that the carb cleaner may not get. You can use it to deep clean most anything so over time it will pay for itself. A impact screwdriver is also a must-have. I've never touched a carburetor that didn't have at least one screw that required a impact screwdriver to remove. Aside from that you will need some luck in finding the rebuild kits, none of which include the O-rings for the fuel cross-over tube. I'm going through the same process myself right now and if Jack's Rebel shop doesn't have what I need it may mean switching over to a Mikuni setup. Best of luck!

Walnut311 I did check YouTube and as you mentioned nothing specifically for the 450. I own all the tools I rebuilt my 70' cb350 carbs. But the 450 seems to have a little more going on as far as springs and arms on the outside. Just gonna do one at a time to keep one as a reference. As far as rebuild kits, are none of the ones on eBay any good?

I can't say. They might be fine but I haven't tried one yet. Figured it was worth the wait to purchase one from Jack as he has verified his kits work. If you need the pages regarding working on the carburetor out of the service manual I will scan mine and email them to you. Not exactly thorough but still helpful.

That's very cool! I'm just gonna invest in the manual since I got the bike what's another $30-$40. I appreciate it though.
The service manual is kinda humorous to me. I've worked on Harleys for about 20 years and surprisingly they have better service manuals than Honda. The Honda manual almost seems like a Klymer book to me. It might be because the 450s were only made for a couple of years. The manual for my CX500 is about 4 times the thickness of the one I bought for the Rebel. The link below is for tuning a Harley carb but they used CV units similar to the one on our Rebel. Good information aside from the first part about drilling out the plug to access the air/fuel mixture screw.
