Please help! Can't find a dipstick that fits!

I have a 2007 Honda rebel 250 and my dipstick fell out while riding! I have searched everywhere for a replacement and have ordered from these places:
15650-KB4-670 DIPSTICK, OIL $7.95

05 Honda CMX 250 CMX250 Rebel DIP Stick Dipstick Oil Check Cap | eBay

But neither of them fit! The threading is wrong. I don't know where else to get a dipstick for a 2007 Honda Rebel 250 with the right threading, please help. :crying:

I have one out of an '04 you could have for $7.50 plus shipping cost.
I already tried one out of a 2005 honda rebel and the threads wouldnt fit. I dont have any faith that a 2004 one will. :( Thanks anyway duckster!
The dipstick from any second generation Rebel 250 should fit your bike. However, if a PO tapped the side case for a different dipstick, or the dipstick threads are buggered up, things won't fit. My first inspection would be the dipstick threads then the case. Never heard of a dipstick that was snugged up coming out before yours.
Thank you flitecontrol! It turned out to the threading! The old stick seemed to have melted a bit and left some plastic on the threads!
Now the question is, how do I get the bits of plastic thats on the threads? I would must likely have to remove the right crankcase cover and do it, right?
I have some new clutch plates coming in the mail as well, I was going to take it into the shop to get them replaced, do you think they would clean the threading for me as well?
The shop can clean it, but not sure how much they would charge. A set of dental tools would probably remove it easily, and they come in handy for other things, including working on the bike. http://www.amazon.com/HTS-152P1-Stainless-Steel-Probe/dp/B000BKYRM6

If you can't get all the pieces out and some fall into the crankcase, I'd recommend draining the oil before riding it.
Just dawned on me that the lower part of the dipstick could have fallen into the engine. This changes everything. Have you ridden it since the dipstick fell out? Was the entire dipstick missing in action, or was the top still in place and the lower part gone? If the lower part is missing, I'd recommend getting the dipstick threads clean (a small crochet, knitting needle, or similar tool should work - be sure not to bugger the metal threads) and changing the oil. See if parts of the dipstick come out.
I actually think it fell out during a ride, the whole thing seemed to have fallen out, and I didnt notice till a whole bunch of smoke started coming out from the hole. I was able to make it home with the bike blasting vaporized oil from the crankcase but since then I have not touched it, mainly been trying to find the dipstick for it. Tomorrow I will drain the oil, take off the crank case cover and clean the threads. And if my clutch plates come tomorrow maybe i'll even try replacing it myself!

Thank you so much for your knowledge and help, Flitecontrol!!!
You are very welcome. Just about everything I know about motorcycles I learned here. Did have several decades of working on my own vehicles before taking up riding in 2008.

Clean the plastic off the threads before changing the oil. That way, if some of the plastic on the threads gets in the oil, it should come out when you change it. You don't want foreign material circulating in the oil.
I have to wonder how the dipstick got hot enough to melt.. It seems some kind of nasty event would be needed to create that much heat. I'd remove the crankcase cover to clean the threads and remove any other debris that may be inside that crankcase.

Several dip sticks are available on ebay.

I did the same thing! I’m trying to find a dipstick for my 2009 Honda Rebel. I’m just learning, and I didn’t know how to shift, and I tried to take it too fast on 1st gear, and I blew my dipstick!
Welcome to the forum. never heard of blowing a dipstick before. Check ebay or Jacks's Rebel Warehouse for a new one or order a new one from a Honda stealership. A dipstick from any 1985-2016 CMX250 will work.
