i just replaced the friction plates in my 2005 honda rebel. after putting everything back together im having some issues. the bike starts up fine, but when i go into first gear the bike starts rolling (with the clutch pulled in). did i mess something up or is it as simple as adjusting something? please help!

Sounds like the cable needs to be adjusted.

The clutch adjustment procedure is in the service manual if you have one.

I don't have a manual, does the Rebel have an internal adjustment? Some bikes do and some don't. Also, there is usually a small steel ball behind the internal linkage rod. If you leave that out, the linkage will be too short and not disengage the clutch properly no matter how you adjust the cable. Also did you soak the plates in oil for several hours before installing them? Jerry.

well i figured it out. i had the damn pressure plate on backwards. haha. i really should get a service manual. thanks for the suggestions.
