On my 250 Nighthawk. It screams low speed idle jet circuit to me.........tips on fixing it please.

If it's caused by dirt, cleaning it should fix it.

again, it bogs, then runs fine in the higher range, but it sometimes dies on decel. Starts right back up. I can see gas in the filter, but will clean the petcock and tank when I get to the carb. Thinking the carb has to come off? George

The additional info helps. By higher range, I assume you mean rpms, not gears, correct? If it doesn't idle well, but runs fine at higher rpms, I would think a dirty slow jet, incorrect idle adjustment, or possibly faulty enricher setup, in that order.
