Kill switch bypass

Hey everyone, it’s been a long time since I rode my Rebel, but my main bike was stolen and now I need to use my Rebel to get around.

2nd gen (2009) 250, no modifications.
Bike sat outside for about 7 years, battery was disconnected, carbs were drained before storage, tank was filled and stabilized (subsequently drained and new, fresh gas put in)

Im getting all the symptoms of the kill switch being engaged so it wont start. I dont have access to a voltmeter/multimeter currently and funds are limited right now.

Is there any way to bypass the kill switch to test if that is whats causing the issue?

disconnecting the switch wire in junction box would defeat it..
Kill switch Grounds a CDI terminal causing it not to fire coils..

I havent dug into a rebel in many years. So I apologize if im asking anything dumb.

The junction box would be behind the headlight correct?
I have a wiring diagram infront of me, which wire would I disconnect? (Color wise)
Im pretty technically sound, but bike wiring is not my area.

*just saw the edit*
Looks like the black/white would get disconnected. Is that correct?
yes the black/white in junction box under head light..
Black/White is also used by ignition switch on another leg.. when Ign. switch Off same circuit is grounded

there are No dumb questions

I really appreciate the help. Im going to dig into this right now and hopefully this gets it started. Thank you for the quick reply!
the act of disconnecting and reconnecting connectors has been known to correct an electrical problem just by scraping through oxidation on a terminal..
Use care on pickup and exciter connectors coming out of Left side case.. they require a bit of a pull which can end up jerking wiring and possible damage..

don't know right from left Lol
I have a 1999 Honda rebel 250 I'm not really good with wiring but I believe the kill switch might be shorted out I winterized it this winter now weather is good and I'm wanting to ride trying to find a way to maybe bypass kill switch don't normally use it anyways I'm hoping that's all that is wrong any suggestions

What are you experiencing that makes you think the kill switch is shorted?
