Should be a clatter/ticking much like an all steel 1950's Singer sewing machine
Too quiet is an indication valve adjustment may be too tight.

Keep in mind the bike was cold when this was recorded (probably 30-40 degrees F) On the last rev when the rpm's go down its most loud. After it got a bit warmer it became quieter video 2022 11 14 09 35 08

I've done that too! :ROFLMAO: That's why I put only the the ignition key in, no ring, no other keys. I hate the noise of excess keys jangling.

There's a place on one of my Rebel's tanks that is all dinged up from a PO's large key ring. I braid string and yarn to the ignition key to differentiate which bike they go to and to make them more visible if dropped.
