I have a 1986 Honda Rebel cmx250c. I'm having problems with getting spark. I've been looking for parts and it seems impossible to find parts for the 1st generation. My question is: are the stator, pulse trigger, voltage regulator and CDI interchangeable or can I upgrade to all the 2nd generation parts?

2ng gen stator is physically larger than 1st gen will not fit inside 1st gen flywheel..
as I remember wire exits pulse trigger housing differently, 1st gen volt reg 6 wire 2nd gen volt reg 5 wire..

2nd gen CDI is different but can be adapted..

in depth component testing is key to spending the least.
there are DIY peak voltage adapter diagrams online or order

Honda testing methods had improved by the time 2nd gen hit North American market
