Looking at a 1988 Suzuki Savage 650 with around 25k on it. Looks pretty decent from the photo. It has a crappy muffler on it, but he still has the original. It needs the carb cleaned and he has what looks like a head gasket for it. Anybody have a ballpark offer? I'm in Georgia if that matters. I was thinking maybe $750

With a clear title, I'd offer 600 and go from there.
Gotta figure it's going to need 200-300 in fix up.

doubt I would pay $500 for it

sold my 1996 Suzuki VS800 Intruder for $1200 w/new tires, new fluids, new stainless braided front brake line, w/19,400 miles..
only thing wrong with it the red metal flake paint was sun faded and sissy bar had been replaced with cheap aftermarket version..

I sold my 82 gs650L about 2 years ago for $700.00
It was running well & had a full fairing.
Hope that helps.

$1 per cc for a stock bike, adjust +/- for condition.

$1/cc was the going rate about 35 years ago! LOL(y)😂🤣
I haven't heard that one in a LONG time!
But I guess it's still pretty close.

It still is for bikes with the 'new' worn off of 'em. Some areas just don't have many used bikes available so prices stay high. Craigslist wants you to pay to list a?bike for sale now, so you find bikes advertised in the motorcycle parts section now. Facebook marketplace is another goldmine, lots of people are giving away lots of stuff, some cheap and some free since they're losing their houses and apartments. It's gonna be a big issue soon.

I'd have to hear bike run before I would consider offering $500
than there is the issue of WHY would owner have head gasket?? sounds like pig in a poke to me..

I offered VS800 for a year at $1,800 on Craigslist, had 2 lookers, the one who looked like the best prospect was wanting to modify as a bobber.. as it was shaft drive he quickly left..

I've watched bikes CL go unsold for ages relisted multiple times and many are asking crazy prices..

wife says the bike has to go - she didn't say it had to be sold for a reasonable price
Exactly, and if someone does buy it....fine!

I did a little research. These bikes are known to develop a top end leak, but the common fix is NOT the head gasket, but a seal under the valve cover. A MUCH easier repair. I'm going to look at it shortly, and I appreciate everyone's feedback. It will help me decide what I want to do. And yes, the wife wants it and other vehicles gone.

It's actually a 2000 with >14k with a clean title. It's going to need a battery, tires, tank painted and lined, carb cleaned, minor oil leak fixed, and a good detailing. Don't like the tan seats, but it had a quality upholstery job.

My first thought on that seat would be to join a forum and put it up for trade.

How about a $1.00 a pound? :)A friend of mine bought a car owned by local (City) govt for a nickel a pound in the late 1970s.
