I found the tool kit compartment .... Sadly no tool kit in there but there was 2 packs of Japanese glass fuses with the price tag of 300yen , not sure where that was bought for but I don't think I will be using those haha

Thanks again Big J,my brake light wasn't working so I checked the fuses I could find.Fuses were good.So checked bulb again and it was good,bought two new ones because I did not have extras.So now I'm thinking that it must be in the wiring.But where to look?Automatically I grabbed my tablet to go to the HRF for the answer,and saw your tutorial on removing the seats,followed the instructions and bingo the seats were off!First thing I saw was a clip not connected,put it back in place and brake light works!Wow I fixed something on my Rebel,you folks Rock!Thank you for sharing your advice and knowledge I couldn't have done it without it!!!

Yup my anchor screws spun on me. I was really hoping to replace just the seat bracket to get rid of the strap that holds the passenger seat and planned on getting a new one fabricated.

 

Corbin seat i was thinking of adding one. Hope someone post on here how good they are.

There are a few threads on them. General consensus is that they are hard at first, and take awhile to break in. After that, they are very comfortable. I don't remember anyone giving them a bad overall review.

 

The screw anchors the screws thread into are in the plastic and foam. If they spin on you, you may have to drill them out.

It seems like the bracket for the rear seat is a solid piece to the drivers seat. I've never taken it off to check yet, but is this true?

 

I'm not sure, but if you want to dissect the OEM seat, you might be able to use it. I've never done it, but maybe others with Corbin seats will comment.

 

Yes Flitecontrol, I guess I didn't explain it well enough. Sounds like I should just go ahead and order a new bracket.

I think he's referring to the seat bracket that has to be removed from the stock seat so the Corbin can be attached with it.

 

On my '85 the nut part of the nut/bolt combo is spot welded to the underside of the rear fender. If that weld fails, they'll spin like you say. You should be able to reach a wrench under there and hold the nut while you spin the bolt from the top. I think it's a 8mm nut.

 

Too late once they are spinning. Some acetone applied to the threads to remove the factory threadlocker and an impact wrench can usually get them out undamaged.

 

Does anyone have any advice on removing the rear seat bracket. Just ordered a Corbin, when I tried the nuts just spun.
