Here is a tutorial for the step to remove the seat on a honda rebel 250.

Here is what your seat looks like before you get started. See below.

First remove the 2 8mm screws at the rear of the passenger seat on either side of the tail light. See below.

Next slide the passenger seat away from the driver seat to release the clip holding the front edge of the passenger seat. See below

Next remove the 2 12mm bolts holding the fram of the driver seat. See below.

Now slide the driver seat away from the tank to release the clip holding the front edge of the seat. See below.

You have successfully removed your seat. Just reverse the process to remount the seats.

You know, I had seen this thread before, but when I went looking for it a couple weeks ago, I couldn't find it for the life of me. I searched and searched and it wouldn't come up. I just went by memory, glad I read it at one point.

The saddlebags I bought have yokes that get really wide, and I'm not sure I can fit them under the seat if I want to raise them up higher, so I might have to trip the yoke. (its just pleather anyway).

On my '85 the nut part of the nut/bolt combo is spot welded to the underside of the rear fender. If that weld fails, they'll spin like you say. You should be able to reach a wrench under there and hold the nut while you spin the bolt from the top. I think it's a 8mm nut.
