I noticed theres a few parts in the carb are pretty bad from sitting too long and the rubber bits are getting to be dry rotted and I wanted to know if I can put in new rubber parts from say like the 1998+ rebels would fit or the honda steeds

Only differences in first and second generation Rebel kits is stock jet sizes and the bowl gasket. On first generation, there is a separate gasket O-ring that is attached on the second. Carefully cut the O-ring off where it attaches to the 2nd gen gasket, trim off any excess, and it can be used on first gen.

Soaking stiff, shrunken rubber parts in Oil of Wintergreen or brake fluid softens and expands them. If a diaphragm is torn though, it's toast.
