I just noticed what seems to be some sort of steel epoxy on my front wheel of my recently acquired 99 rebel. I'd imagine this doesnt come from the factory and now has me a bit worried, what would be the reasoning for this? Could the rim have been cracked? Attached are 2 photos I snapped real quick .

The front hubs of Rebels were cast and no polishing was done to clean them up. The end result was what looked like "cracks" in the hub. Of course there were no structural cracks, just looked like it.

Looks like the PO tried to keep the hub together with JB Weld. Most likely, your hub is just fine.
