Am I correct in assuming that the front brake fluid reservoir should be parallel to the ground (ie, level) when checking the fluid level?

Just bought a 2008 Rebel with 1800 miles on it. If I hold the bike perfectly upright and plum (as if someone was sitting on it) the fluid level is right at the low mark, but the reservoir is way off from level.

If, however, I turn the handlebar to the left and put the bike on the side stand, the reservoir is more or less level with the ground, and the fluid level is right up at the high mark.

Am I good to go, or does it need more fluid?

Thanks!

if you do, then fill it while it's level, & dont overfill it :)
the screws can be tight & easy to burr, so take your time & find the right size screwdriver

So to clarify, when my bike is parked and handlebars to the left is the accurate gauge for my brake fluid not when I'm on it and the wheel is straight?

The most accurate reading is when the master cylinder is in the most level position.
