The electrics on a Rebel are separate from the ignition.
The alternator is designed to keep a charged battery topped up. With bad batery or blown main fuse, the lights will be dim. Since it clicked when you went to start it, I wouldn't think the main fuse is blown.
The battery may be bad. You don't mention what year Rebel you have or how old the battery is. Its possible the battery has gone. The first thing to do is put a slow charge on the battery, no more than 2 amps, and see if that helps.

It might be worth it to look at the main fuse as well.

You can try jumping it from a car battery. Make sure the car engine is off or you can fry the bike's electronics. If it starts right up, you probably have a charging issue, bad battery, or both.

What Flite said. Do that first. that sounds like a corroded terminal issue.
It is possible that a battery cable has gone bad as well.

Was the one at AutoZone a load tester? If it was, that means the battery is weak under load, meaning time to replace.
The motion of taking the battery there may have shaken a loose plate. Of course a loos plate means replace.
If you took the battery there in the bike, it could mean that the charging system is having problems.

oh, ok
no it took it off and took the battery there. its probably the load issue, because when i got back home checked with my tester again still showing 12.7 volts. motorcycle jumps fine off lawnmower battery. i'll get a new one see if that fixes hope so, thanks for help
