New photo! Finally..

OK so this is still a work in progress, but here's what I've recently done..

New engine installed.
Built a rear wheel with the old hub, lacing a 2.15 18'' rim to the rebel hub.
This was so I could fit a Firestone 18 x4.50 tyre on there.
New smaller headlight, although this angle actually doesn't show it!
Simplified the wiring, this is still ongoing with a ignition relocation this week.
made a sissy bar fender setup.
New bars with a slight rise to help me out a bit (I'm 6ft)
I also took the choke cable off and put a little plug/bung adapter in so that's one less cable from the front.
New tank from TC bros, then copper coated it (kinda) at home.
Lots more little bits..

I'm currently building the front wheel into a 2.15 rim so I can put a larger 4.50 firestone ANS tyre on the front to balance it out, also new footpegs are on the way, a new indicator idea as well, although I don't know whether it'll work.. we shall see.
I really want a little 4 cell antigravity battery as well to replace the smaller gel one I bought, I keep hovering over the buy button but with shipping to the UK its like ÂŁ130 and I can't spend that on a battery, I just cant!! But I want one so I'll probably buy one when I'm drunk.

Good lookin build! I'm planning an 18 rear/21 front on my build. How did the taller rear tire affect your gearing?

Very nice! Could you give a little bit more info on lacing to larger rims? Like spoke length and and possibly links to buy these products? And what brand rim/where to buy these rims as well? I'm looking to lace to some sort of larger rim but man this looks way better with larger wheels

Also is there suppose to be 3 imagines? It shows one with two other empty boxes.

Edit: the rear fender placement looks way better also. It just looks correct being there compared to where it used to be

Buchanan's is a good resource for spoke kits and related questions.

Are you planning to lift/support the seat? It looks like it is resting on the fender, translating to unsprung weight (via the rider). That would create several less than friendly issues.

If you find a cheaper source for good quality spoked wheels be sure to let us know about it.

I was curious of this as well, not so much of lifting the seat because it looks good without unnecessary springs under the seat but more curious of the fender hitting the seat , I'm assuming the fender is attached to the swingarm and held up by the sissy bar.

Have you gotten a quote from them? I haven't, but looking at their site, their pre-assembled stainless steel spoke kits run about $110-$125. If you were then to purchase an 18 inch 36-spoke dirtbike wheel on Craigslist (there's a rolling chassis with 2 18 inch wheels on the Killeen CL right now) You might come out quite a bit cheaper than you think.

But when I mentioned them as a resource, I meant just that. They might be able to tell you what hoops will work with the Rebel hub.

I'm cheating and just running an entire dirtbike wheel on the back of mine, but it's also going to be a hardtail, so I've got some fabwork to do either way.

Ah yes that is my second option if I am to ever relace a wheel and don't mind spending like 500 on a wheel.

Hey
Thanks for the comments.
Regarding the wheel I used a spoke length calculator online, measuring the hub and rim and it figures it out. The I just bought a 36 hole honda rim, that was 2.15 width, wide enough for 4.50 tyre and built it up on a home made jig i made from two parallel office desks.
I used to build BMX wheels alot so it wasn't too tough but youtube vids helped alot.
I'm currently building the front wheel into a 2.15 rim, hopefully finish that tonight.
Getting the tyres on by hand is a *****! Levers and soapy water and wrestled that mother on there. Never been so stressed, it was a real fight.

What else... yeah the seat. That is homemade and the back bit that slightly folds up at the fender is slightly 'hinged' to allow that to happen.
Actually I am tempted to extend the seat up the fender and sissy bar like an old school harley chopper but that's at the bottom of a long list!
Yep fender is attached to the swingarm and sissy bar and when I'm sitting the weight is on the frame not the fender.
No more pics at the mo, it's in bits, but hopefully soon, the electrics are all hanging out too so it looks a state, but I want to get it ready for the warm weather so not too long.

me and my friends are going to enter dirtquake this year on our builds, it's fun flat track race on any bike you have, cant wait!! brap!

Back soon!

Thanks for the info. I really like the tank and how its not sitting all funky on the backbone. Is that a 2.1 gallon tank? Would it be possible to see some pictures showing how it sits on the backbone? It looks like it sits pretty flush and that its as far forward to the neck as possible.

If the rear of the seat is supported by the fender, the weight is on both. Meaning you have an unsprung weight issue.

Not to mention every bump you hit is going to bounce you up off the seat.

That would result in even more unsprung weight.

Seat Issues

Ah yes I see what you mean about the harley idea, like I say I did hinge the seat before it touches the fender so it does flex up and down with the suspension as long as I don't sit too far back.
To be honest it probably is going to have to be normal bucket bobber seat, this new wheel set up is a bit of a tight fit, but so much better than the little 15'' stock wheel imo it's worth the hassle!

I'll post more pics asap with more detailed shots but I'm as much as I would love to be out tinkering with it work has me really busy at the mo.
Cheers dudes!

So here's a few more pics of the Honda Rebel bobber / bratstyle
New tank, bars, relocated all the electrics to the box I made under the seat. Anti Gravity battery (4 cell) in there as well.
Hand painted the tank, made the seat and wrapped the bars in the same seat leather so it matches.
Choke mod so that cable isn't around anymore, rebuilt the front wheel into a wider rim to accommodate the Firestone ANS 4.50 tyre, bigger jets on the carb too.
New bates style headlight and matching taillight
Really fun to ride, very loud too!
