Apparently fender removal and replacement are so simple they aren't covered in the manual ... but while removing my rear fender I scratched the paint on the two forward mount points (the ones on the frame proper). I spent a while twisting and sliding to find a gentler means of replacing (e.g. slide it forward over the tire and then try to bring it back and up into the frame) but nothing has yet been particularly gentle.

Does anybody have any experience with the right way to replace the rear fender after it is painted to avoid scratching it as it slides past those mount points?

thanks and regards,

This is not the voice of experience speaking, as I have only removed a fender. But I'm thinking that a C-clamp with a deep enough throat and padded contacts could compress the fender enough to give you some clearance. Just be sure you don't deform the fender through overzealous tightening of the C-clamp.
