I have several 450 carb set ups that seem to be doing the same thing. First let me talk about what seems to be right about them. The bike will idle fine but adjusting the pilot jet has no effect on idle speed.
When given the throttle they are quick to respond but, if you hold the throttle at about 2500 rpm, the begin to miss.
Now if I put a known good carb on the bike, it will run just fine.
These carbs have all been completely disassembled and ultrasonic cleaned. My thought is that I may not be seating the vacuum piston diaphrames properly. Is there a full proof way to do this? I’ve have heard of putting Vaseline on the edges to hold them in the slot while you install the cover. Your thoughts?
Also, any other reasons for these carbs to act this way?
