I do a lot of rebuilding of the 450 rebel. I usually get them for $300 to $500 each and take them all apart and rebuild the starter clutch and check everything to make sure it is within tolerance....

Have you checked the fuses behind the box with all the wires and stuff? it is kind of a bummer to get on and off but inside the cover will tell you what fuse goes where.

I have had the same problem. Sand or cut the metal lip on the end of the filter that goes against the inside of the filter box.
It should fit after that lip is cut off.
