Look it up. I did because I thought the engine guards with foot pegs on them look(ed) incorrect.
Here is an old pic of my 450 with both the crash bar and engine guard mounted.
I cut the lower mounts and installed a spacer to allow for my forwards.
I took a low speed inside fall and believe the crash bar attributed to breaking my foot. Not a scratch on the bike though! Engine guards will be (properly) mounted on my bikes forever, but I got a slightly bent 450 crash bar for sale-super low price!!

|chipshot||Makes sense. Was hoping to avoid getting crash/engine/highway bars, but probably no way around it for using highway pegs (besides forward controls, which I'm also trying to avoid).|

I doubt you would be able to tighten down the pegs enough on that thin outer pipe.
Also the force of your legs pushing on the pegs and pipes could break the exhaust studs in the head.

|chipshot||That would be a reason. The pegs have a little bit of clearance between the mount and peg itself. Maybe I'll give it a try, if it's too hot then get cheap highway bars.|

|flitecontrol||Unless the pegs can be insulated from the tubes, I would think both the pegs and feet would get very hot.|
