flitecontrol It protects the bottom of the peg from getting scraped, and lets the rider know they are approaching maximum lean angle. Leaning even more after you hear the bolt scraping isn't a real good idea. Removing them, and not realizing you are leaning too much could result in a low side crash. If they are specifically designed for the 450, there's most likely a reason the sacrificial bolt is that long.

"sacrificial" so is this bolt to protect in sharp turns or if i dump the thing... imo it looks stupid having an extra 3" sticking off the peg. bad idea to cut the bolt and remove collar?

450 pegs

so i ordered some oem honda parts from motosport.com on their parts diagram of the steps... it had this funky looking bolt setup on the end i ordered it and installed it all it looks strange to me wondering if anyone else with a 450 could verify this being correct. it doesn't appear to do anything as there is another bolt holding the chrome end cap on to the peg... also the collar prevents the bolt from completely threading in so its sitting flush with the inside. if it doesn't do anything ill probably just cut the bolt and remove the collar. any input appreciated on this one... also i checked my 250 it doesn't have anything like that just the one bolt holding the chrome end piece.
