When I stretched my wiring I picked up a spare set of switchbox/wiring assemblies from Ebay. I cut one set close to the switchbox and the other set close to the front junction box, and only had one splice per wire --- versus the usual method of cutting and inserting a length between each wire for two splices per wire. Extra added bonus is all the wires are the same color from stem to stern.

JerryH I love Shadow Shack's Rebel chopper, but it's just more of a project than I want to get into. I have a lot of projects going now, many of which will likely never get finished. Building a BCB properly would be easily, but it would cost around $1500. And even with a bobber, I would want taller bars, not the drag bars BCB has. And that means all new cables, brakes hose, and extending all the wiring. Motion Pro makes custom cables, Russel makes custom brake hose (might as well go with stainless steel) but you are on your own with the wiring. It's not that hard, just a long and tedious job if done right. You can actually get kits for many Harleys that include everything needed to install the bars you want on whatever bike you have, including plug and play wiring. I have seriously thought about putting a 21" front wheel and mini apes on my Sportster, but that would mean giving up the tubeless front tire. It would look better, but being stranded in the middle of nowhere by a flat tire does not appeal to me. I have the same issue with the Rebel. I would love to find a way to put Chinese cast wheels on it. That could turn it into a cross country bike.

RJ64 I've already decided not to hardtail this project now. I was going over it today doing maintenance and started playing with the seats to see if I can make some more room for me, without spending any real $$. BTW, Frank's forks got back with me on a price quote for 6". Right at $400. Yikes! May not be messing with those either lol

Just be warned that everything behind the engine from your stock bike won't be compatible, you lose the top motor mount, and that double-slug backbone junction is an eyesore --- note the tiny postage stamp pic they have on the site so you hopefully don't notice it.

On the other hand Voodoo claims (or at least they once did, not sure if that's the case anymore) if you send them the frame they can weld it up and make that eyesore disappear.

It's been a fun project, if I ever get around to registering it anyways. I still need to tackle a title transfer issue, which I'm not looking forward to...more so after the last NV title (salvage after insurance settlement) took over a year & six attempts to resolve.

RJ64 Thank you, good to know. I believe I saw a hard tail frame that you weld to the Rebel frame that does away with the swingarm all together. Or something like that. I know welders that owe me favors. I wouldn't trust my skill, or actually lack thereof, with a frame project. It's just an idea I'm kicking around. Might not ever do it since i saw Shadow Shack's bike. That sure is an outstanding set up he has.

flitecontrol FYI, hardtailing the Rebel without replacing or strengthening the swingarm will eventually cause it to crack. It's just not strong enough to handle the extra strain.

RJ64 Thank you for the reply, Shadow Shack. I will be check all that out. That is one sweet ride you got there, sir. I've had the 'chopper bug' for quite some time now and almost did that to my Bonneville, but sold that a couple years ago. The Rebel is already a better platform for that, and is $$ cheaper, so that's what I'm gonna do with it. I might even go hard tail with it, to make it 'the right way'. Unless something else comes up, which is what usually happens to me. Life sure can be interesting at times.

The extended forks are from Forking by Frank, I believe Jack at Jack's Rebel Warehouse - Rebel Catalog, Honda Rebel parts and accessories can get them as well. Longer cables were needed, I got a speedo cable extension from Highway Hawk, the longer brake line comes from a Shadow short chopper/parts bike that I acquired long ago. I still need a clutch cable, and while the OEM throttle cables are precariously dangling off the side I need to replace them with longer ones...I'll be sourcing Barnett Clutch & Cable or Motion Pro for those.
