pssst...you're quoting/responding to a banned member (used to be "hanky" based on my prior quotes of his posts before he got banned).

Kelvin is different.
He rides his a lot.
He rides his every day.
He does maintain his ride, henceforth three sets of tires in 40K miles..
Just letting you know, Kelvin is being very straightforward with his issues (and yes, I do know I am responding to something you commented on over 3 years ago.. I am just now reading the thread and getting caught up in the news..

|Nephets||just be glad its a motorcycle and not a car... if it was a car youd be paying way more to fix it weather you do your own fixing or not haha i also got my a rebel for commuting. i got tired of my honda civics eating all my money|

Gee, Did you get 40K miles out of just three sets of tires..Lucky you.
Your buddy; Did he get 80k miles out of two sets? Maybe he bought the bike used and the two sets of "shoes" are what he has put on since buying it? 80k for two sets is incredible and UNUSUAL.
Easy to install fuel filter..Also, I use Seafoam additive to gas every month...a couple of ounces in a tank of gas is good.
You might consider buying a premium quality chain/sprocket set up in case you have been using economy ones.
I don't mean to diss your comments, but I see your bike as being average or a bit better in dependability.....to compare it to just one bigger Honda is not a broad sampling..

Dear Kelvin,This is considered normal wear and proper maintenance ...when you are dead and buried you wont have time to do these joyful things...

Maybe you should trade it for an older Rebel. I have an '87 that I love. 60 MPG. Replace the battery every three or four years, and just ride it. I love it. Wish the seat was softer but other than that I love it.
I have an 1100cc Yamaha which I can not ride in the summer in Florida. Heat coming off the pavement, off the engine and off the sun is too much. The Rebel I can wear shorts, no heat off the engine. Runs great in the afternoon rains. Would rather ride it than ride in an air conditioned car.
