lucky on the broken mt- mine cracked the head slightly- maybe .25" on both sides of that bolt- its leaking after I cleaned and tried TRV and JBWeld. I saw a very tiny crack on the inside of that head when I adjusted the valves- just INSIDE where I can see the external one, so am I wrong in thinking that oil leak MUST be coming from there? Its too high for the head gasket and does NOT appear to be coming out of the valve cover. I have decent experience on bikes, but not sure I want to tackle removing that head to have it welded (but a price of $250 temps me!). Looks like the head w/come off w/out any special steps to get more room, but is it difficult to remove the cams so the cam chain can be wired up before removing the head bolts?

PS: It looks and runs so good, I just hate to not fix it before I sell it (looking for a Night Hawk 250).

Fauxpasrebel01 - high revs like that are normal, the little mill winds up to 7500 for peak power and it falls off around 10K (no rev limiter on these motors so you have to watch it in lower gears)

Mad Hatter - Aside from the stock carb there is the slightly larger CB250 Nighthawk carb that is a direct bolt-on swap, or the various twin carbs available out there. You'll need different intake boots and air box connector for the latter. I have a second hand pair of Chinese twins I've been dabbling with, can't seem to make them stop leaking...so far the CB250 carb might be what I end up with on this bike and I'll save the twins for a rainy day (not that we get a lot of that here in southern NV ).

Hey Shadow. I haven't had any troubles with my steed, so haven't been following the forum much. You ask about top end on my 250. I have had it up to 75 mph when I was in the States, but it sounds like the pistons are ready to swap holes. I consider the 5th gear ratio way to low & constantly looking for 6th gear. 4th & 5th are just too close on ratio. I live on a small island with no 4 lanes & few straights, and I'm still looking for 6th.

Because of traffic during tourist season (St. Maarten/St. Martin), I've decided not to buy another truck & stick with bikes. Just ordered a 180 Baja Pulsar for a backup. This will be my 2nd one & they are great bikes with extra features that my Rebel lacks.

Been 60 yrs. since my 1st bike & have the scars to prove it. I've decided that I'm going to be a fireman when I grow up.

I believe there is a 15 letter/character requirement that prevents the facebook equivalent responses of "word" and "dood" from going live. Just add a smiley or something at the end...I see a lot of folks simply add "(15 char)" to their short posts.

A mod would have to be contacted for that, they can close/edit/delete specific posts and/or entire threads.

How to remove post from sales thread? Going to wait till Spring to repost as I am having possible CDI problem. Bike dies on long ride like running out of gas (just had carb rebuilt by Honda) I stop, hit starter and it runs again?

According to his profile he has a website Honda Rebel Forum - View Profile: Chris C

    Chris Christenberry

I could be wrong, I don't think there is an email feature for contacting members outside the forum. However his website has an "email me" feature so that's an outlet.
