The Rebel Lives!

This is my third Rebel since 1987, the first two I simply wore out at around 100K miles. The current on I bought new in 2008, a couple of years ago I put it up at around 40K miles and (under preassure) bought a Harley! What a mistake! This thing always needed something and it seemed it was always broke. I could not rely on it, since I use my bike to go to work. Gas mileage was horrid.

Well the thing is sold, I got the cover off the Rebel. Changed the oil, put fresh gas after draining the old and cranked up right away! I'm sticking with what works. People defend Harley's but it's time they started making a product with the dependability of my Rebel. Till then, I know what works.

It only took one Harley for me as well, but I just had to have one, just had to. Bought it new thank goodness, worked on it about as much as rode it, the price of parts were outrages, anyway that is water under the bridge. Although I do enjoy the Rebels most of all the 450's

1986 Honda Rebel 450 28,000 miles
1987 Honda Rebel 450 5,000 miles (sold)
2009 Honda Rebel 250 8,000 miles
1983 Honda CX 650 twisted twin 6,000 miles

All I've ridden since the 60's is Honda's. Never have even sat on a Hardly though I did ride with some bay area "club bikers" on my 305 Scrambler with an extended front end and enjoyed their company. As the years went by it seemed the guys I rode with who did most all of their mods themselves and really dug their rides became rarer. In their place came fat butt yuppies on "look at me loud bikes" with costumes from every cliche movie made, IMHO of course

Now, in my "twilight" years the only thing to move me off of a 250 reb would be a 450.

Having recently (Nov. 2016) acquired my first street bike, a low-mileage 2005 Honda Rebel, reading your post has just reinforced my decision to buy this bile!

Thank you.
