wiring no key push to start button

rebuilding a 1986 cmx450 into a bobber and i want to use the oem wiring but delete the keyed ignition switch.
I am trying to find out what wires i need to connect on the oem wires to get it to run with no key.
i have seen lots of wiring diagrams and i basically am about to give up and have a shop do it for me.

Garage
a few minutes and a volt meter would tell you all you need to know

not sure about the 450 but the 250 would need 2 switches to replace the keyed switch

Triple or Double pole Double throw switch would work

you don't need parking lamp.. switch Parking position simply energizes tail lamp while grounding CDI which prevents it from providing spark... without this option switch Run position tail light wires can be connected directly to one another as this circuit isn't energized unless switch is in Run position when fuse block energized from starter relay connection..

This diagram is what i needed !!!
the diagram i found has the on and off positions swapped compared to your diagram !- blew my 20a fuse

So I just ordered this keyed switch/momentary starter ignition to kill 2 birds with one stone.

any thing you see with that ignition that i should be aware of and how do i wire it ??

1st generation 85-87 250 Rebel used a 6 wire ignition switch.. slightly different than 450 7 wire version..

While I think this rotary switch could work, they don't indicate what the internal connections are..

An important function of the ignition switch is the grounding of CDI when in Off position.. Can't tell if additional terminals of your switch choice can provide this function from the diagram they provide..

I would look into installing a 2nd generation 250 switch if the mount holes align..

by eliminating Parking lamp option and jumper of tail light circuit 2nd gen provides all the functions you would need..

Will this work ? And do you know if the stator is the same as a magneto?

That switch very well may work.. looks good to me..
yes the Rebel has both an Alternator and high 100+ volt generator/magneto windings that charge the CDI all contained on same stator..

You will be grounding the CDI rather than a magneto in your application though..
should be a rather painless 4 wire hookup unless you relocate switch mounting location..
