Float needles are still available and you can polish the brass float seat with a Q-tip and a dab of metal polish. Don't think you'd hurt anything trying to clean it yourself, and might save her some $.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Hi.
I'm the one who did't ride my bike all winter and am regretting it. We decided to clean the carb first and see what happens.

Always drain the fuel bowls if the bike will not be cranked in a month or so. This new gasohol is murder on every thing.

Hi again I think,
I'm the neighbor in need.
He broke the fuel strainer screen that's part of the reserve system and my manuel dosen't give me a part No to order a new one. He said that the people at Honda, Reno told him I didn't need it (?). The part they sold him was FF1105DL China 141961 95 that he put on the fuel line. We took it off. Cleaning the carb is next.

I'll have to ask Brizz what, where and how to drain the fuel bowls. I never had to work on my own bike before. I always had my dad or my ex take care of that. Time to learn.

Well, OK, hello neighbor in need. The part number FF1105DL that you posted is an inline fuel filter and not a bad idea to have one installed and it is a must with the intank fuel strainer gone. The strainer has noting to do with the reserve system but it will keep any rust from stopping the petcock up. If you would like to replace the strainer, look here part #5 & #7 1987 Honda CMX450C A FUEL TANK | Cheap Cycle Parts

I sent my carbs out to jacks and my bike was running sweet two weeks later and has been ever since. I also made sure to take my tank to a radiator shop to get stripped and resealed, put a new petcock with screen/filter, new gas lines with inline filter, and new cdi box while i had the tank off. Probably spent 300 total, which is not bad considering shops charge that much just to spritz carb cleaner down your diaphram shutes...
