Yesterday i took my 85 rebel cmx250c down too the store. After i shut off the key i always switch the killswitch too off and lock the fork in the front. I come.back 10 minutes later get my gear on put the killswitch too on turned the key and all of the k8ghts came on like they always do i go to hit the starter button and nothing she didnt even attempt to make any noise or anything so i checked the gas too make sure it was in the on position which it was. So i turned the killswitch on and back off and attempted to start it i finally got a little more progress it sounded to me like a click noise from the lower front of the motor i messed around with killswitch turned the key off and back on and she finally started like she usually does all the sudden That was kind of embarrassing. She has never ever given me any problems someone help please help me what could it be battery??? My stater??? Help me narrow down what it could be and how too check all of the possibilities that could be affecting her starting

it's not the battery or stator - you have a bad switch somewhere or a loose connection in the starting system

i say it's not the battery because it did start eventually - if the battery was bad it would not have started

it's not the stator because that part is not involved in the starting system

As 01-7700 suggested, check the battery cable connections and the ground cable where it ataches to the frame. Make sure they are all snug and corrosion free.
