Gen 1 CDI, needing help

Hey every one. So I believe that my CDI has gone the way of the dodo on my 86 rebel. I'm having the hardest time finding a first gen CDI unit that is guaranteed to work, and under $100 USD. I was browsing the forum to see if any one had the same issue as me and ran across a sticky about a wiring harness for a gen 2 CDI to fit a gen 1, but the thread seemed to die. Other than that I didn't see much.

Any one having this issue or had this issue and might have a solution? This is my daily driver and walking is becoming a massive pain LOL.

Thanks in advance,
Jessica

Id get a current model CDI and convert the wiring to match it. There's a wiring diagram on here somewhere explaining what is needed. Even a used one for the 86 model is going to be over 30 years old, so may not run for long either.

short version: Gen1 CDI has 2 wires to fire the plugs, Gen2 CDI has 1 wire that splits to fire both plugs, and a nanny/safety-interlock wire that goes to ground when the kickstand is up or the transmission is in N.
The other 4 wires are the same.

Does anyone know anything about the inexpensive CDI made in Argentina. Does it have full advance and does it have a rev limiter?
