Just curious, Can a 1985 rebel 250 cdi box be wired for a 2006 rebel 250.

Garage
Why would you want to put a 30 year old CDI into a newish bike?? and the answer is not without some modification.

2004 Rebel 250, 2003 BMW K1200GT (roadburner), 2004 BMW R1200GS(all purpose),
1973 Norton Interstate (in a box in the basement)
1968 Triumph Bonneville

This explains how to put a 2nd generation CDI in a 1st. You should be able to reverse engineer it from that. https://www.hondarebelforum.com/tags...2nd%20gen.html

But I'm with Duckster; why? New and used 2nd gen CDIs are available on ebay for not that much: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...0+cdi&_sacat=0

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

quite a bit of rewiring would be required..

I had to go the other way by installing 2nd Generation CDI on my 87
https://www.hondarebelforum.com/f80/...ml#post1174297

I have run across several "IHA6008" CDIs' made in both Argentina and China that will replace 2nd Gen oem CDI that provide full 30 spark advance for quite a few $ less than dealership.. Currently running China version https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081TGQ6Y which would work quite well on a 2006 Rebel

Also bought other CDIs' that were 1st generation compatible without hacking wiring that provide NO Spark advance..

96 VS800 Intruder (sold 2018 ), 87 CMX250C Rebel,
79 CB400 Hawk (sold 93), 75 CB350 (sold 83), 71 CB350 (stolen 74)

iha6008

I'm going to order the IHa 6008 module. Is it "plug and play" or is some re-wire needed.

will the 2nd gen 250 cdi work on a 450? obviously would need some wire splicing but other than that are they compatible?
