Help with Front Sprocket Removal (with pictures)

Doing my first sprocket and chain swap. I do not have a proper manual for the procedure, so I'm going off of a Youtube vid. In the video, the guy was able to just use two fingers to pry off the front sprocket. In my case, it feels very firmly stuck in place. (See pictures)

From the picture, does it appear that I missed any steps, or should it slide off at this point?

For the record, planning to order a manual online this week.

You need to rotate the rusty ring on the drive shaft so it aligns with the splines on the shaft. Once aligned properly, pull the ring off and then the sprocket can slide off.

When replacing chain and sprockets, I remove the master chain link, or just cut the old chain. Leave the old chain on the sprockets and install the new sprockets. Tie the end of the new chain to the old chain and pull the new chain onto the sprockets. That way you don't have to fiddle with threading the new chain onto the sprockets.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!
