head remove/replace...

Whats a decent price to have this done on a 250 Rebel- not sure if mine w/be repairable or if I'll need a used one.

i have seen heads range in price from $100 to $200 on ebay - if you have to pay someone to help you should start at 3x parts cost

usually - repairing a damaged head is more expensive than buying a used head

mine 04 has only 6900 miles and works great; the seller hit a curb and the rear top motor mt cracked both sides of the head. I have it running nicely now. The crack is very slight- maybe .25" on both sides. I noticed an even smaller crack on the inside edge when I had the cover off to adj valves. JB Weld did not hold it! THinking it c/be welded, whats your take? Never removed a head on an OHCam engine- have seen the timing chain tied up, but is getting the cam/gear loose difficult- thinking that has to be the first step of removal?
