I have a Honda rebel 2018 300. My battery died on it, I'm assuming that I left my aftermarket LED glow lights on by accident. I use a trickle charger to charge it up to 25% or so roughly, and then I started it and let it idle for 5 minutes and took it out for a ride. As I was riding between first through third gears, the bike would lung Forward and backwards, as if it was losing power.
I stopped, and now I have it idling and it is fine. I'm afraid to ride it again, not sure if the battery is just not fully charged or if it is losing power or has a loose connection or something.
Use the trickle charger to fully charge the battery. Then, see what the voltage is like with the engine off, idling, and when revved. The readings should be 12+ volts, 11-12, and 13-14 in that order. If it's not, take the charged battery to an auto parts store and have them load test it. Not familiar with the third generation bikes, but it may be the battery causing it, and if the load testing says it's no good, a new one is in order. Yuasa makes very good batteries that last when properly maintained. You may want to wire the LEDs so they turn off when the engine isn't running.
What you have is a cold blooded Rebel. This is normal, I go through this with my '00 and '07. The engine needs to be warmed up a bit. If it still persists after warm up, try running some Seafoam through the carb as per manufacturers direction.
the Rebel 300 is PGM regulated fuel injection, so yes taking off and asking more of it than idling it with the battery barely charged could cause some fuel delivery issues.
