Cape Coral Florida Rebel riders.

I'm looking for riders near the Cape Coral / Fort Myers area. I'd like to find someone to ride with, as I don't really know ANYONE who rides bikes.
All there seems to be in this area are large V-twin bikers. Even during "Bike Night", there wasn't one "smaller" bike out of about 300 that showed up. Probably 90% of them were Harleys. Even the local Honda shop hasn't stocked any Rebels in the last 2 years.
In my area, most of the riders are wealthier retired people who buy the larger bikes, trick them up to almost "show" quality, and seem to develop an attitude. They've never ridden a bike before in their lives, but now... they're BIKERS!
I give a little wave whenever I pass a bike, but seldom receive any acknowledgement back.
I think this may be because this area is a big retirement spot. Up north (25 years ago) although I always had Harleys, my friends and I never had problems with riding with ANY bikes. Sometimes they'd make fun of US... because they were faster!
I LOVE my Rebel! I wasn't sure when I first bought it 2 months ago (my first Honda), but everyday I ride it, I just like it more and more. I'm 66 years old and I really don't want a large, heavy bike. This bike rides so nice. It handles great and I love the way it looks. I can't say enough good things about my Rebel. It's just perfect for me.
I just wish I had someone to ride with.

Looking for someone to ride with will happen if you keep looking may not happen over night but it will happen. Personally the older I get the more I want to ride by myself because when there is someone with me they always seem to want to get to the destination, coffee shop or restaurant rather than enjoying the journey. Once I found myself stopped and walking down a railroad track just because I liked the scenery, can go at any speed and in any direction at any time.
As for as the unfriendly motorcyclist, their not worth knowing, we have some of those here too but for the most part the riders here are very friendly once you get to know them a little.

That's how it was with my friends up north. Often, we didn't even have a destination. Flea markets, antique shops, waterfalls, trails thru a woods... almost anything might catch our attention and we'd stop. Some of our best times were total accidents.
I know eventually I'll find riding friends. I do enjoy my rides anyway. Like you said, sometimes solo can be pretty fun, too.
Thanks.
