Exhaust replacement 250

Hello folks.
I look forward to many miles on my recently purchased '99 250.

The thing is, it's just so quiet.
I see photos on here of replacement exhausts that look like the kind of thing I'm after -

But on my bike there is no link pipe/ end can combination, it's a straight system, so this means cutting before installing a new end can.
Looking at a pair of these -

or these -

Two questions:
1. What is the diameter of the exhaust pipe before the flare of the 'end can'/ muffler/ silencer (or whatever) section?

2. Has anyone got a setup with which you can switch between stock and custom end cans? (Something I would need to be able to do)

Thanks in advance for any help!
G

I measured 34.25mm on one side and 34.85mm on the other.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

If you need to switch back and forth from stock it's best to have a second set of head pipes for the aftermarket mufflers so you can put the OEM full system back on.

Unless of course you're into constant welding and cutting.

Dismantling, sawzalling, and rattle canning does not make a bobber.
Those are STEPS toward customizing, not customizing unto itself.

Thanks for the measurements @flitecontrol. Pity really, the ones I've been looking at are for a smallest diameter of 38mm. Back to the drawing board (Google)

Good point @Shadow Shack! Yea, I'll look for another set - much easier to swap, cheers.
