THe Nighthawk lives................

since many of you here have assisted me in my rejuvenation of this '99 NHawk, just wanted to let every one know that I actually started it today- it sat for about 10 yrs when I bought it, went thru most everything except the carb- I really didnt want to! I did that last year on a Rebel, so I lucked out, this one was not plugged or gummed up I guess! Still need to rebuild the forks and paint it!

Not a bad looking bike. That seat looks to be more comfortable than the Rebel's.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

The Nighthawk lives.............

It will look just like this 1995 model I owned a few yrs ago when I finish it- basically some body work and paint plus a few details. I've had a Rebel and NHawk, and yes, the Nighthawk fits me better (Im taller) and I've just never been the cruiser type. IN addition to a slightly larger frame, its a bit taller, and the foot peg location is more to the rear- as they are pretty much right under your feet as you sit normally. This is to me a very classic styled motorcycle. I do have the side covers/tail section that are in good shape.

With it's ergonomics better suited to the average North American, it's surprising the Nighthawk didn't outsell the Rebel, but that wasn't the case.

Agreed, surprised me too, but Honda hit the mark on the Rebel- perfect for shorter folks that wanted to ride and of course it had that already customized CHOPPER look that was so popular! George

The Rebel is not only great for the vertically challenged, but I think there’s something about it’s center of gravity that makes it easier to balance than other bikes. I don’t have a lot of experience, so when I first sat on a Rebel it felt like I found a bike made for me. I felt more confident.
