Stator for 1987 Rebel

Anybody know a good source for a stator in my 1987 Rebel 250?

Also, the screws in the case to remove the stator appear to be Phillips head, but maybe not.

Thanks,
Newreb

Have you tried ebay or Jacks Rebel Warehouse? Should be able to find a good used one there.

If you don't have one, get a hand held impact screwdriver to remove the screws. Japanese "Phillips" screws are slightly different, but I have used standard Phillips screwdrivers on them with no problems.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Thank-you. I've used my heavy hand-held impact wrench before. More grip and maybe a "JIS" head that fit better.

I'll look on ebay, too, rather than spring for a new stator, probably lots more $.

Thanks again,

Is it even possible to get a "new" stator for first-gen Rebels?

I have one if you don't have any luck on ebay.

Thanks very much. There are some available from Canada & China for $140 on Ebay I ordered one from Amazon from RMSTATOR, a company specializing in powersports and automotive stators and electronics for $139. All NOS.

I have the stator and side case off and the screws are NOT coming out easily. I'm soaking with PB Blaster until I use my impact wrench. I don't want to start pounding too hard yet.

Thanks,
NEWREB

So is the one you ordered made in China or Japan?

Stator came from Canada, can't tell where made. Two screws out of five still stuck even after using propane heat.

Thanks,

Hmm. The country of manufacture ought to be printed on the box it came in.
