Changed the speedo gear and cable, still did not work.

I only plan on keeping this bike for another 2-3 months before I resell and get something better.

Anyone have any cheaper links to speedometers? Not trying to spend $180 on a new OEM one...

This is just one of many on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-HONDA-...rk:47:razz:f:0

Something better? Don't you mean bigger?

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Both. I like this rebel a lot, but it's had many issues since I've had it, so not great for a first bike.

I would love a Rebel 500, that's my perfect style.

That speedometer looks good, is there any way to reset the miles dial? My bike has 40K miles, that has like 7.5K...

Also, any guarantee it will work?

I don't know how to reset a speedometer. You'd have to ask the seller if there is a guarantee.

Since you want to take the repair part from 7500 to 40000, use the speedo-square-drive end of the old cable and a drill to roll it forward. Opening the security-press-fit housing can be done but takes a lot of care and patience and meticulous work to not accidentally destroy the speedo.

Also check your state's Motor Vehicle Department web site for the form you will need to disclose that the odometer was replaced and has been adjusted to read actual mileage, or does not display actual mileage and title will forever after have NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE, or if your state exempts 10+ year old titled vehicles from having accurate odometer statement (varies by state).
Most states take consumer fraud by false odometer readings very seriously so that "Failure To Comply" with the rules is taken as prima facie of guilt of attempted fraud.
