Messing with the 85 rebel 250 seat buttons
So I've gone here and got a small 250 for my first bike and have been going through and making sure everything's in order. I have a new user post somewhere in the right place.
Unlike generic tutorials online, the buttons that are embedded in the seats are not tied down through the foam to a metal pin, but rather are just glued directly to the foam in an indentation. This is odd to me but it seemed to work for 25 years.. or however long these seats have been in existence. Getting them out was relatively tough.
Got some photos to show the work. I will try to upload them in a separate post. my plan is just to fill in the gaps with new foam and forget about the buttons all together. I guess in some ways that will reduce the potential of water leaking in. And reduce maintenance for anyone down the line.
If anyone has thoughts about this design. Whether it was actually possible to reuse these things and I just didn't have the right proprietary tool or what not. I would be interested.
