There should be a (three?) digit key code on the back of the helmet lock. With that, you can have a key made to fit it. Trying to find a helmet lock keyed the same as the ignition/gas cap would be difficult. Possibly a locksmith could modify the lock you have to accept the current key.

I never use the helmet lock. It's too close to the exhaust for my comfort and difficult to use.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Ha! Glad to hear you mention that. Iíve been wondering about that location, and its proximity to the hot exhaust!?!?

I did manage to lock my helmet there once, somehow without having it too close to the pipe. But it wasnít as simple as Iíd hoped. Not sure if Iíd go to much trouble or expense to replace it if I lost mine like the OP...

Lexintax actually pointed out to me that he folds down the passenger peg to keep his helmet off the pipes. Since then I have done the same, it works! No more melted helmets.

Good info. Mine fell off and have no plans to replace it.

I use a small padlock that I put through helmet ring and then lock it on the front brake disc. Serves a double purpose.

Thatís exactly how I did it that one time. It does seem to work fine. My bigger challenge was that my helmet strap with the D-rings is a bit too short to easily fit through the lock pin.
