85 rebel cmx250c

Hello newbie here,i have a beautiful 85 rebel250 this bike is my first bike so far i have put over a thousand miles on it. I need to find someone who has a video of what the idle of there bike sounds like mine might be running to lean. Any information would help relating too correct idle and why my bike backfires occasionally on deceleration thank you guys.

Welcome to the forum. Is your bike a 49 state model or a California model? The CA bikes have a charcoal cannister attached to the carb via the top most tube, and carbon can be sucked into the carb, causing problems. If I had a CA model, I would detach the tube to the cannister and plug it. If there is carbon in the carb, you could try disconnecting the fuel line from the tank, removing the carb drain screw, and blowing compressed air into the hole. It might dislodge the carbon or it may not. If this doesn't fix it, the carb may need to be cleaned.

Installing an inline fuel filter helps keep any contaminants in the fuel from reaching the carb. https://www.hondarebelforum.com/f39/...ter-13278.html

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Thanks, 01-7700, that's a better one. Gonna delete my video above; too long.

That appears to be the area where it's leaking. The CA model bikes are CMX250C AC, and the other states areCMX250C A. The model number is on the plate with the VIN, located on the neck of the bike.
