Newb here. Just bought my first bike from a private owner, a 2015. I've put 100 miles on it in the neighborhood and now it's starting to get a little funky. The engine revs too high, then it revs up and down and ultimately quits. Any ideas would be welcome!
Welcome to the foum. Have you taken a basic rider course such as the ones the Motorcycle Safety Foundation provides? It's a good way to learn the fundamentals of street riding and build a foundation for learning.
Are you using the choke to start the engine? If yes, do you gradually push the lever off as the engine warms? Did the PO (previous owner) store it for an extended period with gas in the carb? If yes, the carb probably needs to be cleaned.
Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!
flitecontrol - Your choke estimation sounds likely.
JBA - Congrats on the new bike. Let us know if it was the choke. It's very easy to forget a manual choke on a motorcycle. With everything that's going on, especially for a new rider, easy to get distracted.
2016 Honda Rebel 250 - The "Piglet."
AFR sensor equipped and downsized to a 0.105" main jet.
The only changes so far.
Bought on 6/29/19 with 44 miles.
