So long story short, ive been trying to build a mustache ride con for so long but never had the luck to get my hands on a honda rebel, either they where to expensive or gone real quick. So las week i finally got my hands on one 1985 250, very bad shape, but price was fair, 300 dlls plus a full working arcade. Now i inmediatly started to take off the back fender, and the filter box. The bike did not had any back light or turn signal lights. Front ligh works.ItWas very badly painted. And at first i didnt notice but it look like it was crashed and the forks are a bit bended, so ima have to take those to a shop so the can fix them, or maybe i would just buy some junk yard ones. The frame was fixed and it looks good. Engine had very old spark plugs and it couldnt run well but after getting some new ones engine runs like new. The carb its in very very poor condition, it had tons of mud inside but after 3 or more flushes , fuel comes out clean now, so i added a carb cleaner to a full tank and it appears to works just fine for now. Im using it for my daily work transportation, and so far the wngine works good. I do have a problem with the shifter level, as it does not have the original, someone soldered a piece of metal, but it does not work very nice. I have buy a compatible shifter thing, so im going to instal that as soon as i can. I was having trouble with the fron light so today i messed with the wires a little bit and got it working now, on the weeken im gonna work with the wires. I dont like the stock bars so im going to build some bitweel clon bars and install them to make it look nice. Now on those bars, i do know a shop owner who builds race cars from scratch, and because we friends, he will build thos for me for cheap, im talking about 100% profesional bending and soldering, so i wont have to worry on the bars.
Now Im a poor man on a poor country, so most of my fixes would not be profesional, and maybe would not look as clean as others, but im a try to do my best to make a clone of that mustache ride i had wanted for so long. Anyway heres a pic of my ride next to the mustache ride. And please pardon my awfull grammar ,english is my second lenguage.

So last saturday i let my supervisor ride my bike as he told me he use to ride harley bikes, and long story short, he crashed it, good thing nothing mayor happened to him, but the bike got more bended, and the light and speedometer are gone, so i was going to eliminate those anyway, so i took the time to take them off and rewire the bike, i found the simple wire diagram , followed, to succes, but the bike die as soon as i got into gear, a simple ground in the clutch and stand switch, and im back to ride it to work. I just got to instal a tail light and front light wich should be something starigh and simple. tomorrow im a take it to a shop so they can fix the bended forks. will update some more.

Am I to understand that you're riding a bike with bent forks? If so, that's not a good idea for a whole list of reasons.

So im starting to sand the tank, the back fender and some parts that where badly spary painted with black, a little by little the bike is starting to look better. Maybe this weekend ill install the back light with the skate tire. On the engine part, looks like the carb was badly carburated, so im now starting the bike and no smoke its comming up, so i cross my fingers that would do . No wthe bike has tons of heavy sand with oil, so im starting to think into desasembling the whole thing into the bare frame and clean the hell up of everything. it does not look that hard. Will see in the future. I contacted a guy that sells tires and rims for harleys as i want to trade him a full size arvade game for a rim with tire and he asked me "what fitmen?"wich i didnt understand , so i told him im building a rebel bobber and he told me he was gonna get back too me.
So does anyone knows if a front 21 inch tire with rim would fit the front on the rebel? thanks for any info.

Best bet for a different size rim is to send your hub to Buchanan Spokes for a custom relace. Anything else will require modification and machine work on the axle & bushings along with some fun with the caliper & rotor too.

So, my bike was running nice, i was having a bit of trouble because the carb was dirty as hell inside , long story short, i cleaned the carb myself, took it to a mechanic, he told me the choke need it a spring inside to keep it and place, and that solved my problem. Bike runs so good. Then i took it to a carwash, cleaned it up real nice, and...... it didnt wanted to start, The cdi it has lokked bad, so it was my first though that it broke down, i replace it with a new one and it didnt worked, took the bike to a mechanic the next day and he found some fried cables, replaced them, put the old cdi and it worked back again. Now im back to riding. Just need to save some money to start buying some parts one by one. This weekend im a install the decals on the tanck and the back fender. Will post pics ass soon as i can.
